Hi I’m Praneeth Kumar.
In this blog you will learn exactly everything you need to know about how to rank quickly in Google.
In fact I have used the same Strategies and techniques to rank a couple of keywords of my blog in Google top positions like why blogging platform is superior, pros and cons of building backlinks, etc within a matter of a few months,
I guarantee you will learn along with practical tips on exactly what is the fastest way to rank on Google and how you can do it on your blog and website.
So without further ado let’s get started.
A little context on trying to ranking quickly in Google;
According to a study by Ahrefs on how long it takes for a website to rank on google they found that, Only 5.7% of all studied pages ranked in the Top10 search results within 1 year for at least 1 keyword.
In that 5.7% of pages, The majority of them managed to achieve that in approximately 61–182 days which is around 2-6 months time period.
Apart from Ahrefs, Many other similar studies have been done where they show similar statistics and data that it takes a good amount of time for a website to rank for its target keyword on Google and it is not a one night or one month game.
SEO takes time and website domain age is a proven ranking signal in Google and Google also clearly mentioned that a new website ranking will always fluctuate in Google search results if it is less than 1 year old.
So there is nothing like quick SEO.
Even if you use all the best SEO strategies and techniques on the planet, you can’t think of ranking your blog tomorrow for the target keyword if you publish it today unless you publish that blog on a super authoritative media website on the Internet like,
- New York Times.
- Entrepreneur.
- BuzzFeed.
- Huffpost.
- CNN.
You got the point, the above sites are seed sites of Google and they can rank for any keyword within a matter of hours or a few days. There are very few sites on the internet like that but we are only talking about normal blogs and websites.
Now the strategies which I will share with you will definitely help you to rank your blog or website in Google in the fastest time period possible like you can get in top 10 in within 4 months on average and
be a part of 5.7% of pages from Ahrefs study to rank in Google top 10 positions within one year time period.
So let’s dive right in.
How to rank quickly in google?
The Strategies and tips and going to share with you are not very obvious once like optimising your blog on page SEO and other things that most people already do on their blog but still don’t see results that they expect.
Even the tips and strategies are non-obvious but it can really help you move a long way in ranking your blog faster than other blogs on the internet.
So let’s dive right in learning the strategies.
1. Use extremely low competition keywords.
If you want to be in the number one position in Google for any keyword FASTER then you should be number one in finding and targeting a keyword which has not been written or targeted on another blog before.
Okay, you have understood that you should be targeting low competition and low hanging fruits and keywords on your blog but how do you find them is the question?
There are many ways people find low competition keywords like most people use mainstream premium SEO tools like Ahrefs, Semrush and other tools.
But the problem I found with these premium tools is that,
- Keyword difficulty scores are completely different for Each Other tool.
- Keyword search volume is also very inaccurate.
These are the two important metrics when it comes to keyword Research and I would say all the premium SEO tools don’t give you a better picture and right data regarding the keyword difficulty and search volume metrics.
Let’s talk about keyword difficulty metric first if you do keyword research using Ahrefs, it will check the keyword difficulty only based on a single factor which is backlinks.
There is no denying of the fact that backlinks are the most important factor and signal when it comes to ranking in Google but backlinks are not everything in Google.
There are lots of other factors which determine whether a web page ranks in the top position of Google or not like.
- Content quality.
- Keyword search intent.
- Content freshness.
- Website authority.
But most of the premium SEO tools don’t check the other factors so they give you a score like 5 or 10 on the keyword difficulty metric and
most bloggers use this metric as a Keyword difficulty score and target such keywords in blogs thinking them as low competition but fail to rank in Google.
Meanwhile in order to help you to find low competition and low hanging fruit and keywords for your blog I have written a detailed guide where I show you exactly how to do keyword research using just Google without any premium tools and
I also explain how to determine the competition of any keyword without relying on keyword difficult scores of this premium tools.
You can read that guide on how to do keyword research with Google here and you can also read my guide on are SEO tools worth it and pros and cons of building backlinks.
Now let’s move on to the next factor.
2. Build quality backlinks.
I know and agree that this strategy is quite obvious but it is important to know.
In an interview of a Google employee on search engine land he revealed that the top 3 ranking factors of Google are,
- Content quality.
- Backlinks.
- Rankbrain.
And in most industry studies have revealed that the number of backlinks and referring domains which a website has a direct correlation with more traffic and higher ranking in Google.
Although it used to be that the number of backlinks pointing to a particular website would directly increase the website or web page ranking in Google and slowly the trend shifted to being from the number and quantity to the quality game so
John Muller who is the Senior Analyst of Google clearly stated that the total number of backlinks does not really matter but what matters is the total number of quality backlinks to your website.
Now comes the question of what defines a backlink is of high quality or not.
It is simple, there are a few important factors that decide whether a backlink is of high quality of not which are,
- What is the relevancy of a website which is linking to your website? For example if you write about digital marketing and SEO like me, you don’t want to get a backlink from a website which talks about self development and motivation, because it does not really make any sense.
- What is the domain age and authority of the website which is linking to your website as higher the domain age and website authority the better for you and your website.
- Where is the link placed on other website like, if you are getting multiple backlinks from places like footer and blog comments then it is not really worth it, you should be getting backlink from middle of the content where there is a chance of people clicking on your backlink and visiting your website and passing the link juice.
There are a lot more things involved in building quality backlinks to your website like anchor text, content quality and
you can read my ultimate guide on backlink quality versus quantity where I have explained everything you need to know about backlinks and
- you can also read on how exactly you can build quality backlinks.
Even when you build quality backlinks to your website from other authoritative websites you should not expect to see changes in your rankings of your blog immediately rather
it will take at least a couple of months of time for the actual effects of backlinks to appear on your rankings of blog but
building quality backlinks to your website from other authority websites is a best way to improve your rankings of your blog in search results faster and
establish authority on the subject in Google than most other strategies and tips mentioned in this blog.
3. Work on other platforms.
If you just want to rank quickly on Google irrespective of which website it is then instead of trying to rank your new blog on Google why not write and publish content on other authority websites and content publishing platforms and rank quickly.
There are many platforms you can consider like,
All of these websites have high domain authority and allow you to start creating and publishing content on these platforms for free.
So, if your aim and goal is to rank quickly on Google then instead of trying to rank your blog which is very brand new and does not have much domain authority and age, considered publishing your content on other platforms mentioned above so that
you can easily See ranking your blog post within a matter of days and a couple of months of time but definitely faster than your brand new blog.
Thankfully these platforms like medium, facebook, LinkedIn and tumblr also allow you to monetize your content through affiliate links,
so you can easily rank your blog posts published on these platforms due to their high domain authority and age and also make money by selling affiliate products.
Think about it, but there are lots of drawbacks of doing that like you don’t own the content you published on these platforms and
if you don’t follow the terms and conditions properly the Platforms can delete your account anytime so you can lose all of your content and work that you have put on the platform over a period of time within a matter of minutes.
It is your individual choice.
4. Increase direct traffic.
Let’s consider a scenario to understand the concept better,
Let’s say there are two pages A and B on different websites which are targeting the same keyword called SEO tools.
But more people are directly entering the website URL of A in the browser and visiting the website to read the article over website B. Guess what will happen.
Website A will rank higher and faster than website B. Don’t believe me, a study by semrush proves this to be true.
And it is simple sense,
We all know that Google always crawls the internet all the time and if Google observe people visiting a website directly
rather than from search results then it give a clear signal to Google that particular web page is very user friendly and
users are really interested and engaging with that webpage so Google will help the users by improving/boosting the ranking of the web page in the search results so that users can easily find that web page in Google search faster.
This is both good for users and for Google because it is ultimately a better UX. So, here is what you can do about it.
Consider building an audience base around your blog like,
- Consider building an email list of your audience.
- Get the website visitors through web push notifications.
- Build a community group on social media platforms like Facebook group and telegram group.
- Start a YouTube channel and publish videos.
- Share your content and posts on social media and forums like Reddit.
Whenever you publish a new blog post on your website consider promoting your blog on all the methods explained above so that people can directly visit your website which can clearly give a signal to Google that
more people are visiting a web page and Google will automatically improve your webpage ranking because what ever is good for UX is going be automatically good for Google also.
5. Improve UX.
Whether you are an absolute beginner or an SEO Pro and expert in the industry, you can’t deny the fact that User experience plays an important role in ranking of a blog or web page in search results of Google.
With User experience I refer to many important metrics like,
- Bounce rate of the webpage.
- Dwell time of the webpage.
- Click through rate of the web page in search results.
All this Metrics comes under User experience Signals and you should properly optimise them for better UX so that you can improve your search engine rankings faster because if you study all the past algorithm updates that Google released over the years then
you can notice a trend that all of these updates in search results like Panda, Penguin, Medic/YMYL to rankbrain and core web vitals are moving in the direction of creating better UX for users both on Google and on the websites that are ranked on Google.
Definitely consider improving the User experience on your blog and
you can use a heat map and Google Analytics to understand how users interact and engage on your website and individual pages so that you can get a better picture and optimise it for better.
The most important thing you need to do is to improve the page loading speed because nobody really likes to wait for websites to load like it is a bad User experience which creates a lot of bounce rate and
decreases the dwell time on your blog which creates a bad User experience and hurts your rankings in Google overall at the end of the day, use tools like page speed insights to improve and test your loading speed.
Also try to avoid using pop ups and aggressive ads placements on your blog which are really very distracting for users when they visit web pages.
While in order to improve the CTR on your blog, the most important thing you can do is to create better title and meta description for your blog posts and
you can use tools like emv headline analyser to test different titles for your blogs before you use them.
You can also think about and add structured data to your blog posts to increase the CTR like FAQ schema and review schema.
It is a simple equation, the better and higher the CTR and UX signals, so will be the rankings in Google and vice versa.
6. Solve technical issues of your website.
There are lots of technical issues which can hold your website back in search results and if you improve and optimise your blog and website and
solve all the technical issues then that alone action can help you improve your search rankings faster and quickly without ever creating new content or building any backlinks whatsoever.
Some of the most important technical issues you should be solving on your website immediately are,
- Find and fix duplicate content issues on your website using siteliner SEO tool and Google search console.
- Fix and solve the loading speed of your website.
- Improve your website navigation and site architecture so that people can find information and blog posts soon on your blog.
- Optimise your blog and website for better mobile experience by making your website mobile friendly.
- Find and fix broken links and add redirections where necessary on your blog.
- Improve the internal linking structure of your blog to pass the link juice from different pages on your blog.
There are many small and major fixes you need to do on your website and solve all the technical issues and it can directly or indirectly help you to improve your search engine rankings faster.
7. No replacement for quality content that matches the search intent.
At the end of the day the most important factor in Google is relevance and content quality of the blog post.
Example let’s say that you found a Keyword which is low competition and all the blogs targeting that keyword in Google have low quality content like a 500-1000 Words articles then
consider creating and publishing a content which is better quality like 2000 and 2500 words article and this will definitely give you an edge and advantage for you to rank faster and quickly in Google over other pages.
Industry studies resulted in the fact that higher word count articles directly correlate with higher search engine rankings because,
more word count in the blog post directly means more information present in the blog and
more information can be more helpful for users compared to other blogs with less information and quality content with less word count.
But not all correlations lead to causations, isn’t it.
On average you should be publishing every blog post around 2000 words because that is the average content length of top ranking position articles, there are a few exceptions to this like,
you should not write 2000 word article just because you should be writing higher word count blog post, depending upon keywords, the search intent of the Keywords,
decide the word count and always stay on point to the primary keyword that you are targeting in your blog.
Most bloggers when they realise that more word count is better they try to include content which is totally irrelevant to the primary target keyword they are targeting and
they try to include a lot of fluff and irrelevant information which is not really useful to the reader and does not help you in ranking your blog.
So the important lesson you should be learning is whenever and wherever possible try to create a more helpful post with higher word count and the information is on point and relevant to the primary keyword because,
it will directly give your blog an edge to rank higher on Google compared to other blogs because your blog is more in depth with more information which is more helpful for users.
With that said let’s conclude the blog post.
